Manages the patient intake process, including patient triage and admissions, non-critical transfer patients into or out of the Cleveland Clinic from other hospitals, direct admits and post surgical admissions through the appropriate application of InterQual criteria. Requires active communication with physicians and members of the multidisciplinary team.Experience: Excellent communication skills -- written and verbal. Excellent customer services skills, including phone etiquette. Ability to establish good working relationships with associate departments. Working knowledge of ICD-9/CPT-4 coding and InterQual a plus. Excellent interpersonal communication and negotiation skills. Strong analytical, data management and PC skills. Strong organizational and time management skills, as evidenced by capacity to prioritize multiple tasks and role components. Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment in interactions with physicians, payors, and patients and their families. Demonstrates commitment to Patient Experience process and the Behavioral Expectations in all interactions and in performing all job duties. Performs duties in a manner to promote quality patient care and customer service/satisfaction, while promoting safety, cost efficiency, and a commitment to the CQI process. Minimum 3-5 years acute care hospital experience to include Case Management or patient throughput. Prior work experience in hospital quality management or insurance company utilization preferred.Licensure and Certifications:BSN preferred. RN licensure in the state of Ohio required. Certified in Case Management required within one year of eligibility.Physical Requirements: Requires extensive walking, telephone use, bending, reaching and listing items weighing twenty pounds or less. Must be able to work well under pressure and maintain professional demeanor under adverse conditions.
