The program is designed to help the Nurse Resident attain more clinical experience, knowledge of pathophysiology, and critical thinking skills to facilitate transition into professional nursing practice. Programs provide clinical experience and instruction while giving the participant the experience of working on a nursing unit. The one-on-one clinical education provided in each patient care area is formally structured using pathways and specific timelines.During the program, the Resident will receive a staff nurse salary with full-time benefits. The clinical training may consist of day, night and weekend shifts. Although the selection process for the RN Residency Program is competitive, the program is extremely challenging and rewarding. Panel interviews are conducted by Residency Coordinators, Educators and Managers of various nursing units.Nursing students or graduates who have not yet received a license may apply and interview. However, a current unrestricted Georgia Nursing License and AHA-approved CPR card is required prior to beginning the RN Residency Program.
