Uses available resources to meet customer needs. Uses knowledge of interactive management and humanistic values in creating an environment conducive to meeting needs. Role reflects a balance between management and clinical practice.Reports To: Senior Director - Interventional ServicesTitles Supervised: RN, LPN, Scrub Technicians, Clinical Care Assistants, Registrar/SchedulerMinimum Qualifications: Registered Nurse. Education: Graduate of accredited school of nursing; Bachelor of Science Degree in nursing (BSN) or ASN with equivalent work experience preferred. Experience: Five (5) years experience as an Operating Room Staff Nurse required. Two (2) years prior management experience preferred. Licensure:Current non-restricted Georgia RN license. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Clinical nursing skills with exhibited intellectual capacity to apply skills and knowledge to practice. Demonstrated leadership, critical thinking, and organization skills. CPR required, ACLS preferred, CNOR preferred.Responsibility #1:Care of the Patient: Coordinates the daily operations directly impacting patient care and the delivery of customer services from the Ambulatory Surgery Center Department. Practice in the clinical areas reflects current standards of practice, hospital values, and legal standards. Develops and maintains positive collaborative working relationships with physicians. Participates in development, interpretation, communication, and implementation of new standards, policies, and procedures. Monitors staff compliance with policies and procedures.Responsibility #2:Continuum of Care: Facilitates the process for the provision of access to the appropriate levels of care and services based on the patient's identified needs. Intervenes and resolves problems that potentially may interfere with patient flow and positive outcomes. Communicates details of patient status at each level of care change. Uses effective interpersonal/communication skills with individuals/groups to achieve positive outcomes. Keeps Director informed of identified trends and potential risk issues.Responsibility #3:Leadership: Exhibits professional leadership in the direction of the delivery of patient care. Provides direction to staff supervised. Collaborates in decision making. Encourages staff participation at all levels to help fulfill the department goals. Gives direct patient care to explore areas of patient problems, identifies learning needs, increases clinical competency and enhances interdisciplinary relationships. Evaluates staff in a timely manner addressing areas for improvement. Interviews and hires competent staff. Orients the new staff to perform competently. Acts to minimize vacancies and turnovers. Practices interactive management techniques to strengthen autonomy of staff. Serves as a positive role model for staff, students and other member of the healthcare team.Responsibility #4:Education: Identifies teaching opportunities and provides the resources necessary for achieving the educational goals for the patients and staff supervised. Promotes professional growth with staff. Monitors compliance of staff members in the daily practice of nursing care. Provides opportunity for staff to attend educational classes. Recognizes the need for and provides assistance to include teaching to others where appropriate.Responsibility #5:Resource Management: Manages time and resources in a manner that meets patient and departmental goals. Demonstrates an awareness of budgetary constraints and seeks to maximize productivity. Available at all times during regular hours to assimilate and serve as a resource person for department personnel. Assures availability, readiness, safe, and cost-effective use of equipment and supplies. Personnel are scheduled/utilized/adjusted based on competency, changing needs, and cost effectiveness. Responds appropriately to variances. Manages own time. Able to prioritize and organize needs/demands. Delegates appropriately and effectively. Accountable for deadlines.
