These functions will include but not be limited to: triaging patient phone calls, evaluating nursing needs of patients, scheduling patient appointments, providing patient education and medical instructions, and providing assistance to physicians during physical exams and procedures.*Provide patient education, general health information, procedural instructions, and reinforce physician instruction in person and through telephone contact.*Obtain medical history from patients through structured interviews in accordance with departmental guidelines.*Prepare equipment and assist physicians during physical exams and medical procedures.*Prepare and administer medications as prescribed by physician.*Perform phlebotomy as needed.*Deliver nursing interventions to assigned patients that are consistent with stated medical plan of care while observing and recording signs, symptoms, and behavior of patients in medical record.*Document patient care interventions and education in medical records.*Triage patient phone inquiries according to physician and/or departmental protocols and document in the patient's medical record.*Participate in evaluating nursing needs of patients*Assess complex problems affecting patients via telephone or in the clinical setting.*Provide patient counseling based on specialized and/or advanced knowledge gained through education and experience.*Recommend policy and/or procedural changes according to nursing expertise.*Inspect equipment and facilities visually and physically to ensure patient safety and proper functioning of equipment.*Ensure appropriate patient consents and authorizations are obtained for research, medical treatment, and/or release of information.*Schedule patient appointments, tests, and procedures.*Provide working supervision to other non-licensed medical or office support personnel.*Performs other duties as assigned.Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:1) Associates Degree2)4 years general nursing exp3)Active licensure as a Registered Nurse by the Board of Nursing - State of Texas4)CPR Certification
