Oncology Nurse - Home healthcare
ONCOLOGY NURSE: HOME HEALTHCARE
Healthcare Professionals are currently working with one of the UK's leading private healthcare providers to recruit experienced Oncology nurses to work within their exciting ground breaking service:
Providing a dedicated oncology service to patients in their own homes, Delivering courses of chemotherapy, ensuring safe administration at all times. Focusing on patient centered care, enabling the development of strong patient relationships.
ROLE OVERVIEW:
Once a patient has been referred to the service, a named nurse will be assigned to the patient. The assigned nurse will :
* Be responsible for introducing the service to the patient,
* Educating and informing patients on their condition, the proposed treatments and possible side effects .
* Visiting the patient in their own home to deliver the course of treatment. Conducting health checks, checking blood results, administering Chemotherapy drugs and monitoring patient progress
* The assigned nurse will document all visits, and provide reports to the Consultant.
* This is an autonomous role, and the successful post holder will have the flexibility to manage their own work load in accordance with the priorities of the role.
The oncology service includes:
* Home-based IV and oral chemotherapy
* Supportive treatments including biphosphonates, analgesia, IV antibiotics and parenteral nutrition and monoclonal antibody treatments.
ROLE REQUIREMENTS:
The successful post holder will posses the following:
* Hold current NMC registration as RN Adult or RN child.
* Have a minimum of 12 months post registration experience
* Experience in the administration of cytotoxic and biological therapies
* Be a team player, committed to excellent service delivery
* Be a car driver with clean driving licence
* Be willing to travel as part of the job, and work flexible hours
Previous experience in home healthcare is not required. You will receive comprehensive training and support for the role.
PACKAGE
Salary up to £31,000
£300 per month car allowance or company car (£3500)
