Job Description The Ambulatory Care Registered Nurse (RN) is accountable for the delivery of direct patient care, including patient education, the management of telephone triage, and supervision of nursing care provided by assistive personnel. This nurse provides high risk nursing care or performs high risk procedures (e.g., conscious sedation, lumbar puncture, bone marrow biopsy, or chemotherapy). May perform minimally invasive procedures (e.g., IV therapy) and/or high risk nursing care (e.g., conscious sedation, complex patient assessment, high risk procedures, and medication administration) and have the required knowledge, skills, and competencies. Where nursing care is provided, the nursing process of assessing, diagnosing, outcome identification, planning, implementing, and evaluating is the basis for care delivered. The Ambulatory Care RN provides professional nursing care across practice settings and the continuum of care to meet the needs of the patient and family. The Ambulatory Care RN supports the community through community involvement and the organization through education, committee work, and participation in research. The ANA Nursing: Scope and Standards of Practice (2004), the AAACN Ambulatory Care Nursing Administration and Practice Standards (2004), and the ANA Code of Ethics for Nursing (2001) provide a basis for practice. The RN may work in the outpatient and/or inpatient environment. Works flexible hours, generally Monday through Friday mirroring the ambulatory practice; however, may have on-call responsibilities (generally unrestricted) outside of normal work hours. May be cross-trained to work in multiple sites at the employers discretion.
Basic Qualifications Associate's degree in nursing or diploma in nursing required. Current RN licensure from Arizona or another state participating in the nurse licensure compact.
Other Qualifications Prefer Oncology and/ or Infusion Therapy experience. Prefer Chemotherapy Certification. BSN preferred. Minimum one year of previous registered nurse experience in ambulatory and/or acute care settings preferred. Able to adapt to unpredictable situations within clinical or research settings. Exhibits good communication and interpersonal skills. Available to work flexible hours that may include on-call. Strong computer skills preferred.
License or Certification Basic Life Support (BLS) completion preferred on hire; BLS must be completed within 30 days of hire and maintained thereafter. Maintains ACLS and PALS as required by specific units. Maintains specialty certification per unit guidelines. In Endoscopy, CGRN certification preferred.

Compensation Detail Education, experience, and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended. The minimum pay rate is $27.78 per hour.
