Responsible for assessment of learning needs, planning, facilitating and/or conducting (implementing) and evaluating learning activities, plans and coordinates new employee orientation program and continuing education for department staff. Assists with the development of education, policies, and procedures. Serves as a resource person to staff and management. Participates in organizational and education department continuous improvement activities, serves on teams, and special committees as needed.Basic Qualifications Bachelors degree, Three years related nursing experience. Operating Room experience strongly preferred. Knowledge of AORN recommended practices and standards. Aware of AAMI sterilization standards and practices practices.Other Qualifications Flexibility (Works flexible hours, which include days, evenings, nights, holidays, and weekends)Basic computer skills. Ability to read and communicate effectively in EnglishLeadership, problem solving, verbal and written communication, and team building. Basic improvement concepts and techniques. Ability to perform staff nurse as to meet the needs of the department. Ability to independently create and present education materials. Ability to identify learning gaps and develop a learning plan to assist leadership in staff development. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Oversees the availability of standardize patient education materials. Coordinates orientation for staff specific to the knowledge, skill, and competence requirements of the position. Participates on the Nursing Educational Council. Presents educational offerings as requested. Participates in CNO and CNAO as requested. Assists the departments in maintaining regulatory compliance with patient and staff education related requirements. Coordinates the unit preceptor program and development of preceptors. Utilizes evidence based practice to improve patient outcomes. Utilizes lean improvement process for improvement of quality cost-effective patient outcomes. Provides input on performance evaluations focusing on standards of practice/care. Provides ongoing education to maintain staff competency.License or Certification Active Wisconsin RN license or ability to practice professional nursing in the state of Wisconsin, Current BLS CertificationBenefit Eligible YesExemption Status Non-ExemptHours/Pay Period Full-time, 80 hours per pay periodSchedule Details Primarily Monday through Friday, Days with rotation to alternate days and shifts to meet the learning and developmental needs of the department.Weekend Schedule OccassionalCompensation Detail Education, experience, and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended.
