DescriptionStudent Nurse, Shock Trauma Operating Room, University of MarylandOur Student Nurse program provides you with valuable hands-on experiences in the Operating Room The Student Nurse role allows you to master basic nursing skills in the perioperative setting and develop effective communication and organizational skills while providing nursing support in a variety of surgical subspecialties.The Student Nurse in the OR assists the RN assigned to the patient with the perioperative assessment following Association of Perioperative Nursing (AORN) standards and practice recommendations, assists with surgical suite readinesss for the appropriate procedure, and assists in implementing safe patient care by maintaining aseptic technique, controlling traffic flow in the OR suite, maintaining correct body alignment during patient positioning, assuring accurate counts of all materials used in surgical procedures, and maintaining normo-thermia during the surgical procedure.Ours is a fast-paced environment, where you'll find new and challenging situations every day.
