WORK EXPERIENCE
Lancet laboratories (Zambia)
Am currently working as a Laboratory Nurse and Deputy Nursing Manager at the above named international laboratory.
My duties include:
-Phlebotomy at the laboratory, in hospitals and in homes as per demand.
-Pap smear
-Assist in result deliveries to the doctors and to individuals
-Monthly stock-take for the nursing department.
-Staff management.

a. Surgery department, Male surgical ward (G21)
I worked as a Bedside Nurse.
Duties included;
-Bed baths
-Bed making
-Feeding conscious and unconscious patients
-Patient turning
-Giving bed pans
-Maintenance of fluid intake and output.
b. Male Ophthalmic Ward
I worked as an assistant Ophthalmic Nurse.
I did assist in the following procedures;
-Cleaning of eye sockets after procedures like exetenration and evisceration.
-Eye drop/ointment instillation
-Dilatation of the pupil before fundoscope
-Counseling of patients post loss of sight.
c. Female Surgical Ward (G12)
Upon completion of my Registered Nursing course, I did continue with the Bedside Nursing but did carry out the following managerial responsibilities; -
-Planning
-Management of resources and staff
-Accounting for supplies and equipment inventory
-Record keeping and evaluation of monthly work.
